About
A few words on why I started Thinkornote.
The problem
I had notes in one app, my calendar in another, a budget in a spreadsheet I rarely opened, and sketches on paper. Every time I came back to a project I had to piece it together again. Once I spent half an hour looking for a plan I’d written, gave up, and wrote it again. It wasn’t as good the second time.
What I built
So I started building the app I wanted, just for myself at first. I wanted it to look clean and minimal, with nothing on screen I didn’t need. After using it every day for a while, I figured other people might find it useful too. Releasing it would also help cover the servers and the time it takes to build, and if it goes well, turn into a proper business.
Notes, docs, sheets, slides, sketches, your calendar and your money all live in one library. The AI can search all of it, and it can edit or rework any note, file, photo or recording when you ask.
The AI was the hardest part. I wanted the side panel to give people the models they already use, but API access costs far more than the subscriptions Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and xAI sell to individuals. Passing that cost on would have made the app expensive for no real reason. So the panel opens the actual chat apps instead. You sign in to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok or whichever you use, several at once if you like, and chat with them right next to your work. I don’t sit in the middle, and you don’t need an API key unless you want one.
I did try the all-in-one apps first. Most of them wanted my data in their cloud. Some took a weekend to set up. And sending a file to someone who didn’t use the same app was always a pain.
How it works
Your files stay on your device, and you can export them as normal files whenever you want. The AI only looks at something when you ask it to. If you already pay for a model, you can use your own key.
Thinkornote runs on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. It’s a small project, so some things are still missing. If something breaks or you want a feature, email me. I reply myself.
